Is offline advertising dead?! I have to say although I have been getting great results online. I still have always gotten good results with different types of offline lead generation. Over my years I have been able to successfully prospect and move product via offline mediums.
Whether it postcards, drop card, magazine or newspaper print. I have always been able to generate contacts. The biggest thing I’ve learned about being able to generate leads for what ever business the key is exposure. The more exposure you can get to the people who are looking for what you have the better off you will be.
I guess if I had to rate which ones were the best I would rate them in the following order of my ability to not just generate a lead but my ability to convert them to a prospect and eventually a business partner or a customer.
1) Magazine. Probably have been the best source of quality prospects when I have been looking for customers and business partners. There are several pros and cons to advertising here. If not done properly it is also a way to blow a ton of cash with very little return on your investment. I will cover some of the do’s and don’t in upcoming postings
2) Post Card campaigns. Just a few short years ago this wouldn’t have rated as high for me , but people are starting to become numb to the constant email campaigns out there. Another thing is not nearly as many people are using this to generate leads as in years past. There are both inexpensive and very expensive ways of doing this both of which will also be covered.
3) Drop cards. For those of you that aren’t familiar with drop cards all these are those llittle cheesy looking fluorescent yellow or green cards that have some sort of headline followed by a website or a toll free phone number. This is a VERY inexpensive way to generate leads. It has also brought me personally the lowest quality leads. Now everyone has their own experiences and it may vary depending on the products or opportunity you are promoting.
4) Newspaper advertising. This probably should be rated higher, but I am only going off of my own experiences. Now the thing with this is I’ve gotten mixed results with newspaper ads. Often I do not generate a lot of call backs, but the ones that do call back are usually decent prospects depending on what paper I am running it in and which section of the paper. **ATTENTION** If you are marketing a Business Opportunity please don’t do it in the help wanted section. I cant tell you how unfair it is for a guy to hitch a ride to the other side of town looking for a J-O-B only to find out that he is there for a business and not only does he not get paid immediately he must also fork over some startup capital. Tactics like that give network marketing a bad name.
Any of these forms of offline advertising work to generate leads. Find what works for you . Heck the reason I’ve done them all is because I get bored from doing the same thing all the time. Matter of fact a good friend of mine has multiple appointments a day from running newspaper ads in his city and is a fixture in the top 10 for his company production.
As always good luck in your business, not that you need luck because if you are on here you are obviously working on your business skills.
Til the next time
