Lead Generation Offline

Is offline advertising dead?! I have to say although I have been getting great results online. I still have always gotten good results with different types of offline lead generation. Over my years I have been able to successfully prospect and move product via offline mediums.

Whether it postcards, drop card, magazine or newspaper print. I have always been able to generate contacts. The biggest thing I’ve learned about being able to generate leads for what ever business the key is exposure. The more exposure you can get to the people who are looking for what you have the better off you will be.

I guess if I had to rate which ones were the best I would rate them in the following order of my ability to not just generate a lead but my ability to convert them to a prospect and eventually a business partner or a customer.

1) Magazine. Probably have been the best source of quality prospects when I have been looking for customers and business partners. There are several pros and cons to advertising here. If not done properly it is also a way to blow a ton of cash with very little return on your investment. I will cover some of the do’s and don’t in upcoming postings

2) Post Card campaigns. Just a few short years ago this wouldn’t have rated as high for me , but people are starting to become numb to the constant email campaigns out there. Another thing is not nearly as many people are using this to generate leads as in years past. There are both inexpensive and very expensive ways of doing this both of which will also be covered.

3) Drop cards. For those of you that aren’t familiar with drop cards all these are those llittle cheesy looking fluorescent yellow or green cards that have some sort of headline followed by a website or a toll free phone number. This is a VERY inexpensive way to generate leads. It has also brought me personally the lowest quality leads. Now everyone has their own experiences and it may vary depending on the products or opportunity you are promoting.

4) Newspaper advertising. This probably should be rated higher, but I am only going off of my own experiences. Now the thing with this is I’ve gotten mixed results with newspaper ads. Often I do not generate a lot of call backs, but the ones that do call back are usually decent prospects depending on what paper I am running it in and which section of the paper. **ATTENTION** If you are marketing a Business Opportunity please don’t do it in the help wanted section. I cant tell you how unfair it is for a guy to hitch a ride to the other side of town looking for a J-O-B only to find out that he is there for a business and not only does he not get paid immediately he must also fork over some startup capital. Tactics like that give network marketing a bad name.

Any of these forms of offline advertising work to generate leads. Find what works for you . Heck the reason I’ve done them all is because I get bored from doing the same thing all the time. Matter of fact a good friend of mine has multiple appointments a day from running newspaper ads in his city and is a fixture in the top 10 for his company production.

As always good luck in your business, not that you need luck because if you are on here you are obviously working on your business skills.

Til the next time

Warm Market Secret #2

Previously I spoke about two ways of generating leads in the warm market. The first way of generating leads from your warm market was by simply using a memory jogger. The second way which is probably even more effective will make sense once you realize there everyone falls into one of two categories. What are those categories?

Your warm market and everyone elses warm market! Quick grab a pen! Be coachable here, one of the key ingredients to having success is your ability to be coachable. Write down the names of six people you have been meaning to approach about your product or opportunity. (Go ahead, its just you and a computer screen)

Now here is what you are going to do with those six names to generate leads. You are going to call up each of these six people and ask them if they can give you the names of six people that may be interested in your product or service. Now don’t worry only 1 of 3 things will happen here.

1) They will give you some referrals. some of you may only get one or two, others will get the six asked for. Some of you will hit the mother load and be offered up the entire rolodex. How cool is that!

2) They will tell you they don’t know anyone interested in your product or service. Ouch! Thats ok, if you get this alot there is either something wrong with your approach or something isn’t practical about the product you are offering. I mean it IS possible that if you are selling $7 candy bars just like the one I can get at the corner gas station for .33 cents that I probably don’t know anyone that would be interested.

3) They will express personal interest. Often when asking for referrals the person will recognize that what you are offering would benefit them more than anyone else they know. This is very common and was the most effective way for me to get appointments when I was going through my own warm market.

Now if you are lucky enough to go 6 of 6 you will have 36 BRAND NEW warm market leads to talk to. Better yet, you will have a name( their warm market) to drop when you are calling these contact.

I know a lady who was able to acquire over 100 new customers in less than 2 weeks by using this referral method of generating leads. If she can do it, you can too!

Good luck and happy prospecting!

Michael
